Manchester United and Liverpool set to battle PSG for €80m West Ham sensation Matheus Fernandes

PSG are predicted to receive competition from West Ham's fellow league counterparts, United and Liverpool, in the race to sign Matheus Fernandes

Premier League sides Manchester United and Liverpool eye a summer move for West Ham’s PSG target Matheus Fernandes.

According to a TEAMtalk report, PSG are expected to face competition from West Ham’s league counterparts, United and Liverpool, in the race to sign Matheus Fernandes this summer.

The Portuguese international’s €80 million market valuation is attracting clubs across Europe, and Paris Saint-Germain will face no problems in completing the deal. The Hammerers face potential relegation, but they are labeling Fernandes as a “Premier League player”, as per transfer insider Graeme Bailey. Despite their final league position, West Ham will not let go of the 21-year-old cheaply.

Arsenal, Man United, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea have made inquiries in the last few days about the midfielder, who had a stellar season, scoring and assisting 3 times each. PSG are monitoring the situation regarding the player, but have yet to launch anything official.

The Gunners are thought to value Fernandes’ technical profile, while he fits Chelsea’s latest strategy of recruiting young, high-potential players. As for City, he could fit right in Pep Guardiola’s versatile midfield package with rotational involvement.

The €80 million asking price may prove a concern for the interested Premier League parties, as they have to strengthen their squads in other areas. However, PSG should face negligible issues in going straight in and submitting an offer to West Ham after the Champions League final against Arsenal.

PSG director Luis Campos has instructed that new transfer deals and contract extensions be stalled until May 30.
