PSG and Man City transfer target prefers move to Man United, report claims
PSG and Man City transfer target Mateus Fernandes prefers a move to Manchester United, per reports.
Midfielder Mateus Fernandes should leave West Ham United this summer, and PSG appears as one of the possible destinations, according to recent reports.
The Athletic’s Roshane Thomas confirmed this week that PSG is one of the clubs interested in signing Fernandes, 21, although the Parisians are not alone in this race.
“Paris Saint-Germain, the Ligue 1 champions and upcoming Champions League finalists, are among Fernandes’ suitors,” Thomas wrote.
He added, “There has been an increase in the number of European scouts attending games at the London Stadium to monitor a talent who is not expected to remain at West Ham United for much longer.”
According to the same report, West Ham would expect to receive more than the 38 million pounds (about $51 million) it paid Southampton last summer for the Portuguese player’s transfer. The Hammers are at high risk of being relegated at the end of the season. With two matches left to play, they are in 18th place with 36 points, two points behind Tottenham (38).
Matheus Fernandes ‘extremely keen’ on Man United transfer
On the other hand, TEAMtalk’s Fraser Fletcher reported on Thursday that Manchester United leads the race to sign Fernandes, although he also cites PSG, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Chelsea as interested clubs.
“Manchester United have emerged as the frontrunners in the race to sign highly-rated West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes this summer, with the Portuguese youngster understood to be extremely keen on a move to Old Trafford,” Fletcher began writing.
He added, “Paris Saint-Germain have made contact with his camp, while Manchester City, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Chelsea are also monitoring developments closely.”
According to this latest report, West Ham could demand a minimum of 80 million pounds ($108 million) for Fernandes. A figure that, although high, any club mentioned above could assume. Let’s see.
