PSG’s Desire Doue after winning Champions League title: “We are going for the third one!”

PSG forward Desire Doue made an ambitious claim after lifting the club’s second-ever Champions League title.

Speaking in a post-match press conference (via M6 and RMC Sport) after beating Arsenal in a nail-biting penalty shootout in the Champions League final, Desire Doue stated his ambition to win a third European title with PSG. He said: “I’m speechless! The first one was exceptional, but we had this desire more than anything to go for the second. It’s our families, our brothers, our sisters, we thank them. I love this club so much! And it’s not over! The second one is here, we’re going to keep working and we’re going to go for the third one!”

Before going for the third successive Champions League trophy next season, the 20-year-old will celebrate PSG’s Ligue 1 title, Trophee des Champions and European triumph with his teammates this week. He will join the French National Team in Clairefontaine soon for World Cup preparations.

Doue finished last season’s Champions League with a Man of the Match performance in the final, which PSG won 5-0 against Inter Milan. In Budapest, Doue played the entire 120 minutes and scored his spotkick in the penalty shootout to calm the nerves of his team.

Les Parisiens will hope to keep Doue in their squad for the coming years since he has a lot of potential to develop and to produce world-class performances consistently over the season. Paris Saint-Germain are expected to hold a trophy parade with the three title they have won this past season at the Champ-de-Mars near the Eiffel Tower in the French capital today.
