Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Tottenham emerge as competitors for PSG’s Lucas Chevalier

Three Premier League outfits have emerged as the potential transfer battle competitors for PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier this summer.

According to a report by Media Foot via Le10Sport, PSG goalie Lucas Chevalier is currently being quoted by three Premier League clubs, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Frenchman has not played a single match for PSG since January, particularly after he was overtaken by first-choice goalkeeper Matvei Safonov for the number one spot in between the sticks. The former LOSC Lille man was progressing well at Les Parisiens since his arrival at the club last summer, but a sudden drop in form under Luis Enrique’s system meant losing a starting position in the line-up as well as missing out on the World Cup with France.

The 24-year-old professional has time on his side to still make a better career, and therefore, Premier League clubs have taken a keen interest in him. Chevalier is valued at €25 in the current transfer market, and it is quite an affordable figure for any of these three English top-flight clubs.

Chevalier is expected to move himself out of PSG soon, as news has already been circling around the media about AS Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar’s potential transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. Apart from the Serbian international, PSG head coach Luis Enrique has been adamant in signing Portugal’s first-choice Diogo Costa in goal from FC Porto.

All these factors indicate the French side’s interest away from Chevalier, and hence, a Premier League is firmly on the cards.
