PSG plot €50 million summer raid for AS Roma shot stopper

PSG eye a €50 million summer swoop for Serie A side Roma's goalkeeper Mile Svilar as Diogo Costa remains the priority

Ligue 1 side PSG have identified AS Roma’s Mile Svilar as a summer target.

According to a report by Ekrem Konur, PSG are expected to replace goalkeepers Matvei Safonov and Lucas Chevalier with Roma’s star goalie Mile Svilar this summer.

Les Parisiens will play their second successive Champions League final on May 30 against Arsenal, after clinching the European accolade last season by beating Inter Milan. Head coach Luis Enrique has the necessary depth in every area, and that has helped him commandeer a strong season, successfully defending the Ligue 1 title and lifting the Trophee des Champions till now.

Despite a star-studded squad, the Spanish manager is keen on making changes to his goalkeeping department, as he still does not trust Safonov even though he has undergone a convincing campaign. Chevalier has been relegated to third choice since youngster Renato Marin made two starts this season when the first-choice Russian had to be rested.

The Giallorossi may need a sale this transfer window to balance their finances, but losing the Serbian international is set to be a big blow. As of now, Premier League clubs have registered their interest in the 26-year-old with a potential €50 million price tag. If PSG bid, they will also keep their offer around that figure without breaking the bank.

Enrique’s prime target remains Porto’s Diogo Costa, who can easily be brought in by triggering his €60 million release clause, but much will depend on the player’s wishes.

Gregor Kobel, Bart Verbruggen, Anatoliy Trubin, and Elia Caprile are also on PSG’s wishlist for the summer.
