PSG: Sporting Director about to leave, several clubs show interest

Yohan Cabaye, the Sporting Director of the youth academy of PSG, is supposedly set to part ways with the club that has been his home for many years now. Several Ligue 1 clubs have shown interest in signing him to the position of their Sporting Director for their respective first teams, a reward for the brilliant work that Cabaye has put in at PSG.

The former midfielder arrived at the French capital five years ago and has since then done some excellent work that has played a huge role in making the youth academy of PSG one of the best in the football world. The academy has contributed heavily to the club’s recent string of successes, which includes the UEFA Champions League title last season and a record-extending twelfth league title this season. PSG can also clinch a second Champions League title if they manage to beat the current Premier League champions, Arsenal, in the final to be played in Budapest, Hungary. In addition, the youth team of PSG has won the Gambardella Cup on Saturday, courtesy of a 3-2 victory over Montpellier at the Stade de France.

All this success means that at least three French top-flight clubs, which are, as reported by Le10Sport, Troyes, Brest and OGC Nice, are trying to secure the services of Cabaye as the Sporting Director for their first team.

When asked about his future plans by RMC Sport back in April, Cabaye refused to provide any solid statement, instead saying, “I’ve been with the club for five years, I’m finishing my fifth season, and I’ve been director since October 2024. I’m proud of what I’ve done and the progress we’ve made. What’s coming up still gives me enthusiasm.”

He further went on to say, “As for my personal situation, that will always take a back seat to the club and the challenges we have to face with the youth academy.”
