PSG’s Ousmane Dembele on Arsenal reaching the Champions League final: “They deserve to be here”

PSG star man Ousmane Dembele took the opportunity to talk about their Champions League final opponents Arsenal.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference (via Le10Sport) ahead of the Champions League final clash versus Arsenal, Ousmane Dembele did not underestimate PSG’s opponents as he demanded respect and predicted a tight contest. The Frenchman congratulated The Gunners for their Premier League triumph and then proceeded, “Arsenal is a very good team, we saw that with their Premier League victory and in the Champions League group stage, where they finished first. They had a very good run; they deserve to be there, to have won this Premier League, to have made this run in the Champions League. They are a very good team that plays very good football. They are good all over, in attack and defence, and on set pieces; they are formidable, everyone knows that.“

The PSG forward also praised the players and Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta for their performances in recent seasons. The North Londoners suffered a heartbreaking Champions League final loss two decades ago at the hands of Barcelona in Paris, and now they have a chance to take back home some fond memories.

Dembele said: “A very good team with very good players in defence and attack, and they also have a very good coach who has done a tremendous job. He’s been at Arsenal for four or five years (soon to be seven), it wasn’t easy at the beginning, but in the end he deserved to have won the Premier League and to be in the Champions League final.”
