PSG: Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté set to join the club; all details are in order

Ibrahima Konaté, a key name in Premier League club Liverpool’s defence line, is set to leave the club after talks of him extending his contract with the Reds bore no fruit. His current contract is set to expire on 30 June, and the player will leave on a free transfer, as reported by Le10Sport.

Fabrizio Romano wrote on his X handle, “Ibrahima Konaté is leaving Liverpool as a free agent, the decision has been made. After advanced talks to stay with a new contract, and the player’s confirmation in April, Konaté is leaving, as no final agreement has been reached. Negotiations have ended, as revealed by Talk Sport.”

The French defender, who joined the Merseyside club back in 2021 for a fee of €40 million from RB Leipzig, will now be looking for a new challenge, and PSG will definitely be interested in acquiring the services of the player as they look to make some new additions to their defence line, where several players are reported to exit the club in the summer.

However, the club will be competing with the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, who are also, as reported by L’Equipe, interested in the player. However, the Daily Mail suggested that the defender is most likely to join PSG. It will be interesting to see which club succeeds in securing the signature of Ibrahima Konaté after a successful stint at Liverpool that saw him win one silverware each of the Premier League, FA Cup and the EFL Cup.
