PSG linked with Aston Villa in striker swap deal

Striker has been an area of concern for PSG this season.

Their two big-money signings from 2023 have not lived up to expectations with Goncalo Ramos hurt and Randal Kolo Muani underperforming, and the plethora of false nine options that Luis Enrique has tried have not worked.

There were reports of PSG going after two Premier League attackers, but now with a report from Football Insider journalist Pete O’Rourke, a new name has emerged for them that includes sending away an outcasted striker.

PSG wants to sign Jhon Duran

That name is Jhon Duran. The talented Columbian has scored 12 goals in 26 matches across all competitions for Aston Villa this season and has shown off a rocket of a left foot.

He just recently turned 21 on December 13, so he fits into PSG’s new strategy of buying young players.

Aston Villa has a bit of a blockage at striker, as Ollie Watkins has taken the lead role in attack for most of the games this season.

This has only left Duran with 18 appearances and 4 starts out of Villa’s 20 Premier League matches, so it makes sense why they could look to get a big fee for a player who does not have a great place in the squad.

The reported price tag for Duran is around 60 million Euros, which would be a more than fair deal for PSG. With reports of the deals for Viktor Gyokeres or Victor Osimhen hitting roadblocks, this would be a very intriguing option for PSG.

Kolo Muani could head to England

There have been numerous reports linking Randal Kolo Muani to the Premier League, but this report emerges a new suitor.

O’Rourke suggests that Aston Villa could take Kolo Muani back in the swap for Duran.

Randal has struggled since coming to Paris on a deal worth over 95 million, so if PSG wants to complete a swap they would have to include some money alongside the Frenchman.

A swap between these two players would likely need to include around 45 million coming from PSG for Aston Villa to accept.

He has fallen out of favor in Luis Enrique’s lineups, only playing 350 minutes and scoring 2 goals all season despite being healthy.

A move to England could give Kolo Muani a fresh start, while a move to France could give Duran that chance he needs to get consistent time in the starting XI and become the superstar player he has shown flashes of being.
