PSG captain Marquinhos heaps praise on head coach Luis Enrique

PSG captain, Marquinhos, sent a message of gratitude and support for manager Luis Enrique, who has already led them to a UEFA Champions League title, and is one step away from securing a consecutive one. Already a continental treble winner with two separate teams, with Barcelona in 2014-15 and PSG in 2024-25, a UCL title this season would further cement the Spaniard’s position as one of the greatest managers in world football.

According to a report by Le10Sport, Marquinhos and Luis Enrique together addressed a pre-match press conference on the eve of the Champions League final to be played between PSG and Arsenal at Budapest, Hungary. During the press conference, Marquinhos showered praise on his manager since 2023, saying, “Since Luis Enrique arrived, he’s implemented things, strategies, his philosophy… It’s all worked well. That’s how you manage to convince a group, not just with words.”

The Brazilian defender further said, “That’s why we’re so strong. He’s not just a tactical coach, he also prepares himself physically, mentally… He’s very well-rounded, things are going smoothly, and that’s why he’s a top-level coach, and I hope we’ll stay with him for a long time.”

It is to be noted that Luis Enrique has reportedly signed an agreement with the authorities at PSG for extending his contract until 2029. A win on Tuesday, which would guarantee a consecutive second Champions League for the side from the French capital, would further strengthen the ties of trust between the coach, the players, the club and the fans.
