The Bradley Barcola crisis: From starter to half-time casualty in PSG’s night of glory
Playing as a right winger for PSG, Barcola put up an out-of-form display from the very beginning as he failed to create any chances.
As reported by Footmercato, PSG star Bradley Barcola delivered a not-so-usual lacklustre performance in Les Parisiens’ game against RC Lens, a match that saw the side from the French capital secure the Ligue 1 title.
Playing as a right winger for PSG, Barcola put up an out-of-form display from the very beginning as he failed to create any chances for the forwards, or get the better of the Lens players. In contrast to players like Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who had a much better outing, Barcola struggled to get his game going at any stage during the first half. Manager Luis Enrique cannot be blamed for pulling him off at half-time and replacing him with Portuguese midfielder Vitinha.
With the UEFA Champions League final against Arsenal fast approaching, Barcola, Enrique and the club must put together their heads and find out the reasons behind the French star’s sudden drop in form, something that can cost PSG heavily on the most important night of the season.
The gaffer was, however, unwilling to put anything out to the media, as he said during the post-match press conference about the half-time substitution, “I can’t say anything. No important information for you, think what you want. I’m not explaining anything, but it’s very clear.”
If Barcola wants to be a part of the matchday squad of the UCL Final, he must do everything possible to regain form, and that must be done without delay.
Paris Saint-Germain are already eyeing up potential transfer for Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, and this could well impact the 23-year-old’s future at the club.
