PSG prepare offer to sign €20 million Grêmio starlet
PSG ready €20 million swoop for Brazilian talent Gabriel Mec this summer as Newcastle United, Villarreal and others close in.
PSG are hoping to prepare a swoop for Grêmio youngster Gabriel Mec this summer.
Brazilian side Grêmio is set to receive a host of offers from Europe this upcoming transfer window, including a significant one from Paris Saint-Germain for winger Gabriel Mec, as per a report by RTI Esporte (via Foot Mercato).
The Porto Alegre-based side have recently extended the 18-year-old’s contract until 2031 to facilitate a bigger transfer fee from future proposals. However, the club’s board values the player at around €20 million and could ask for a future resale percentage or bonuses in a potential deal.
Mec has caught the eye of PSG scouts because he plays mainly as a striker, but has the versatility to feature as a winger. Despite his young age, he has shown quite a composure in offensive build-up play, vision, and dribbling, skills that could yield massive future dividends. Given these characteristics and his age, the French giants are ready to fulfill Grêmio’s wish to bring the forward into their squad.
Who are the competitors against PSG in this transfer?
PSG are set to attract heavy competition from fellow European outfits with considerable resources in the race to sign Mec. The teenager’s development through the youth ranks under Portuguese coach Luis Castro has already invited numerous club scouts from Newcastle United, Villarreal, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Porto to keep an eye on him.
Luis Enrique’s side see him as a player who could make them a stellar profit in the future while potentially emerging as a rotational striker. PSG scouts are also stationed in Brazil to monitor Mec’s situation, and an offer could be sent soon to unlock talks.
