From Desire Doué to Warren Zaïre-Emery: PSG tipped to retain the Golden Boy award

PSG are in pole position to retain the Golden Boy award at home after Desire Doue's win last year, as per initial media predictions.

PSG are in line to retain the Golden Boy award for this season after Desire Doue brought it home last year.

Scoring two goals and registering an assist in the Champions League final was the final onslaught from Desire Doue last season, as he lifted the Golden Boy 2025 award. PSG could keep the trophy home after a strong campaign from Warren Zaire-Emery has tipped the race in favour of the 20-year-old, as per Le10Sport.

While Lamine Yamal has experienced a considerable season with FC Barcelona, as he helped the club win the Supercopa de España and La Liga for the second successive campaign, the 18-year-old remains out of the candidacies for the Golden Boy award. This is due to a key rule in the award that restricts any player from winning it more than once. Yamal had already won the Italian sports magazine Tuttosport-presented accolade in 2024.

Zaire-Emery has played incredibly well for PSG head coach Luis Enrique at right-back throughout the season while featuring in his natural position in midfield. He has shown terrific versatility in playing both roles, especially deputising for Achraf Hakimi, when he needed to be rested or was out with an injury.

“He’s a true Parisian, not only for what he does on the pitch, but also for how he behaves off it in his life. It’s a privilege to have a player like him. He plays everywhere, he has individual, technical and physical qualities. It’s a real pleasure to coach him. He just needs to come to press conferences. If you want, I can put him in my place, I’d be happy to do it,” Luis Enrique said about the young midfielder in March.
