PSG abandon Lokomotiv Moscow star pursuit
PSG rule out the signing of Lokomotiv Moscow’s Aleksey Batrakov as they turn to a different way in transfer market plans.
According to a report by Le Parisien via Foot Mercato, PSG have rescinded themselves from any further pursuit of Lokomotiv Moscow midfielder Aleksey Batrakov.
As per an earlier report, the Russian club’s captain and goalkeeper Anton Mitryushkin confirmed the 20-year-old’s interest in joining PSG this summer. He said: “We hope everything goes well! We don’t comment on rumours within the team, but of course, everyone hopes so. A transfer to PSG would be a blessing for everyone. I am absolutely certain that Batrakov will join PSG“
Les Parisiens were also believed to have sent a representative to scout the player and to test the water at the end of last month. However, sporting director Luis Campos has now decided against securing the services of the Russian midfielder.
Going for Batrakov would have been PSG’s first recruitment interest in the Russian market after landing the signature of Matvei Safonov from FC Krasnodar in 2024. Batrakov registered 13 goals and ten assists in 28 league matches, thus making the personal best campaign in his career till now.
In recent weeks, the player’s agent reportedly claimed a finalised agreement with the European champions, but now it has been revealed that Luis Enrique’s side will not proceed with the deal. They remain committed to exploring other transfer targets that suit their demands right now instead of going for ones that can cause unnatural competition in the team.
