PSG boss Luis Enrique sends rallying cry ahead of Champions League final versus Arsenal
PSG head coach Luis Enrique took the press in an up beat mood ahead of his team's Champions League final clash against Arsenal.
PSG boss Luis Enrique sent a clear message to the Arsenal head coach, Mikel Arteta, before the Champions League final on Saturday evening in Budapest.
Speaking in the pre-match press conference (via Foot Mercato) for the Champions League final, PSG coach Luis Enrique stressed being the “best team in the world” as he was found to be in an upbeat mood. He said: “It’s powerful to have this desire to win the first Champions League title in our history. But winning it twice in a row, that’s even more motivating! We’re ahead of schedule.”
“Above all, we have to continue being the best team in the world. That’s the objective,” the Spanish manager reiterated.
Enrique did not predict the result of the final but took time to demand respect from the press and the fans for reaching the glamorous occasion. He remarked, “There’s no greater motivation than playing in a Champions League final. As for the rest, we’ll see tomorrow who the best team is and who wins the trophy. I remain focused on my team and on being able to show our best tomorrow.”
A few days back, Arsenal boss Arteta banged his team’s drums ahead of the final as he said: “We have to take the next step, and that step will take place in seven days in Budapest, to go and win the Champions League, and we know it.” The Gunners lifted the Premier League trophy for the first time in 22 years, and now they have made it clear that they want to grab European silverware.
