“That’s all that’s on my mind”: Ousmane Dembélé sets sights on UCL glory with PSG
PSG star man Ousmane Dembele commits his focus on the Champions League final and talks about his improvement after the Ballon d'OR.
Perhaps the most important piece on Luis Enrique’s chessboard, French forward Ousmane Dembélé capped off a brilliant 2024-25 season with one of the most coveted individual awards in world football, the Ballon d’Or. This award came at the helm of a treble-winning season for PSG, and one of the best individual seasons that Dembélé ever had.
Speaking on the eve of another UEFA Champions League final (via Le10Sport), a second consecutive one for PSG, the 29-year-old forward was asked a question by Le Parisien journalist Benjamin Quarez. He asked, “Does the first Ballon d’Or and this new Champions League final make you want to go even further?”
To this question, Dembélé replied, “The Ballon d’Or hasn’t really changed my personality or my style of play. I know I have a lot more responsibility since I arrived at Paris Saint-Germain. I try to perform well on the pitch, whether it’s in the big games or the smaller ones. That hasn’t changed; I still have that desire, that hunger to win with this club, with all the staff and the squad. That’s all I’m thinking about.”
The Frenchman, a key part of Enrique’s frontline on the pitch, who recorded 10 goals and 7 assists for PSG in the league over the course of the season, and has also registered 7 goals and 2 assists in the UEFA Champions League till the semi-final against Bayern Munich, sent a message to PSG fans. He said, “I know individual trophies generate a lot of discussion, but they come second. The most important thing is to win with Paris Saint-Germain, to make all our fans and this club happy, and nothing more.”
