PSG make shocking offer for Atletico Madrid superstar
Julian Alvarez, the 26-year-old striker from Argentina, has already created quite a buzz on the transfer front, even before the market officially begins in June. The 2022 World Cup winner has started a war of sorts between PSG, his current club, Atlético de Madrid and current La Liga champions FC Barcelona.
As reported by Le10Sport, Alvarez, who has already become a key name circulating in news headlines regarding summer transfers, himself wants to join the Catalan side. However, PSG are now trying to convince the player and his current club to take the player for themselves. According to Spanish journalist Iñaki Villalón De Linos, the club from the French capital has decided to offer Alvarez the same salary as its star forward and himself, a former FC Barcelona player, Ousmane Dembélé.
Linos said in front of a panel of journalists on El Chiringuito, “I was told that the offer submitted by PSG before the Copa Del Rey final that Atlético de Madrid played against Real Sociedad was €120 million. And two players were included in the same deal. Atlético said no to PSG. They said that for the moment, they weren’t negotiating.”
The journalist then went on to make a claim which would go on to shock the other journalists. He said, “PSG is offering him the same as Ousmane Dembélé, which is around €22 million net per year. And it could go up to €25 million with bonuses.”
However, it is to be noted that if recent reports by L’Equipe regarding the current salary of Ousmane Dembélé are to be believed, the figures named by Linos are far from the actual figures. For instance, the Spanish journalist, when asked about Julian Alvarez’s current salary, said, “Today, he earns around €8 million net per month, a little less.” But, according to the French daily, Dembélé earned around €1.5 million gross per month, which equals €18 million net per year.
It will be interesting to see what eventually turns out. If indeed Alvarez ends up receiving the same salary as Ousmane Dembélé, it will be quite a significant raise for the Argentine striker.
