While PSG had to beat the likes of Monaco, Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich in the knockouts to reach the final, Arsenal can be said to have experienced a rather ‘easy’ route to attain the same. However, Mikel Arteta’s men recorded eight wins out of eight in a flawless league phase campaign that put them at the top of the table.
The Gunners are now 90 minutes away from registering an European and a domestic double, after lifting the Premier League for the first time in 22 years. Arteta has kept Arsenal unbeaten in Europe this season, while registering nine clean sheets in a single Champions League campaign, one fewer than their 2005-06 season and 2015-16 Real Madrid’s joint record.
Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace last weekend ended their decades-long Premier League trophy drought as Arteta’s ‘trust the process’ finally bore fruit.
Both PSG and Arsenal are dealing with their first-choice right back issues. Jurrien Timber has not played since the March international break, and Ben White is recovering from a knee injury. Cristhian Mosquera is the man to deputise in the role.
Declan Rice is set to keep his starting role in midfield. Noni Madueke is expected to be deemed fit for the squad ahead of the match, but Bukayo Saka will start up front.
Here is how Arsenal are predicted to name their starting XI against PSG in the Champions League final
Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Raya; Mosquera, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapie; Lewis-Skelly, Rice; Saka, Odegaard, Trossard; Gyokeres.
