PSG set to match €125 million asking price for Atletico Madrid superstar

Ligue 1 giants PSG are ready to match a staggering asking price set by Atletico Madrid as Arsenal step up competition.

According to a report by Miguel Delaney of The Independent, Julian Alvarez is set to be a centre of battle between Arsenal and PSG following the conclusion of their respective Champions League journeys with the May 30 final in Budapest.

The Gunners head coach, Mikel Arteta, has been a favourite of the Argentine forward for a long time, and he believes that he can lure the player to the club this summer. However, Paris Saint-Germain have a more direct approach for Alvarez in terms of salary and commissions, and they will face no problem in appeasing Los Colchoneros’ request of €125 million as transfer fees.

As per an earlier report, the former Manchester City star had rejected Atletico Madrid’s advances of tying him down to a new contract, which could have potentially earned him €10 million net per year. The player’s decision is clear. He will leave the club this summer. While his personal choice is expected to go to Barcelona, they do not have the financial means to make the deal.

It is set to be a direct transfer battle between Arsenal and PSG soon. The Premier League champions might have to adjust their budget, especially after a big transfer window last season. They would have to put cold water on their pursuit of Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers to make the necessary financial arrangements for the deal to sign Alvarez.
