Liverpool and PSG locked in a €100m transfer battle for RB Leipzig teenage sensation
Liverpool set for a transfer battle with PSG to secure Yan Diomande
Premier League side Liverpool set up the primary steps to seal RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande as PSG continue to monitor the situation.
According to a report by transfer insider Dean Jones of Flashscore, Liverpool want to wrap up the deal for a permanent signing of Diomande before the 2026 World Cup. However, they expect stiff competition from the likes of PSG and Bayern Munich.
As per an earlier update, the 19-year-old committed next season to the German club as he cited his contract. I’m under contract in Leipzig, and I enjoy playing here. But after that, nobody knows what will happen. Everyone has ambitions, including me. My dream is to play at the highest level possible,” were his exact words.
While Leipzig would have wanted to keep the teenage wonderkid for one more season, they could be tempted by offers around €100 million. Mohamed Salah’s exit from Liverpool has made the club intensify talks for Diomande, but Paris Saint-Germain remain keen on the youngster’s profile, age and versatility upfront.
The Ivorian international had a breakthrough campaign with the Saxony-based club, scoring 13 goals and recording 10 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
As things stand, PSG have not officially inquired or tested the waters for Diomande, but they are closely watching the changing scenarios around the player. Les Parisiens’ decision to go for the forward will depend on how their own squad shapes up after the Champions League final against Arsenal.
Meanwhile, The Reds have lined up alternate options in Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon and Bradley Barcola from PSG if they fail to land Diomande.
