PSG’s key talisman absent from vital warm-up match

PSG’s star man Ousmane Dembele did not arrive for an internal warm-up match ahead of the Champions League final versus Arsenal on May 30.

According to a report by Foot Mercato, the Frenchman did not participate in a friendly match between PSG players today at the Parc des Princes.

Head coach Luis Enrique decided to call up many youth academy stars for the game; however, the notable absentee remained Dembele, who is still recovering from a calf issue sustained during Les Parisiens last league match against Paris FC. The Spanish manager fielded almost every first-team player for this practice session, and right now, it is a race against time for the former Barcelona forward to make the starting line-up a week later against Arsenal in Europe’s biggest stage of glory.

The match drew around 1000 PSG fans and ultras to the stands. After the contest, supporters were given match balls and jerseys as numerous tifos were unveiled by the home fans, who showed their confidence towards the players for the Champions League final clash against The Gunners.

Enrique took the opportunity to attract young stars to participate, who shone on the pitch, such as Fanne Drame and Cordier.

The Ballon d’Or winner recently committed his immediate future to Paris Saint-Germain, saying that he will be “100% here” next season. His expression meant that he put cold water on all rumours linking him away from the club so that he can fully focus on his recovery ahead of the big European match.
