PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is back in action just in time for the Trophee des Champions against AS Monaco.

After a serious injury that left him with a noticeable scar on his face, many wondered if he would be ready for the upcoming match.

But the Italian star is confident and ready to take his place between the posts once again.

Donnarumma suffered a heavy blow to the face during the Monaco/PSG match on December 18, which left him sidelined for a brief period.

He missed the Coupe de France clash against Lens (1-1, 3-4 on penalties), and questions lingered about his fitness.

After a well-deserved 10-day break, Donnarumma returned to training with his teammates and is now in Qatar preparing for the showdown with Monaco.

According to RMC Sport, those close to Donnarumma have confirmed that he is fully fit to play. The goalkeeper himself feels in excellent condition and is eager to return to action.

Former Chelsea goalkeeper coach, Christophe Lollichon, spoke on Donnarumma’s resilience, despite the injury’s visible marks on his face.

“Now, if he’s a goalkeeper, Donnarumma is ready to face these kinds of situations… Of course, the impact was pretty violent, and it doesn’t exactly make you want to be a goalkeeper,” Lollichon commented. “But personally, I don’t think it will have a negative effect on him going forward because this kid loves his position.”

How did Gianluigi Donnarumma handle his injury?

Donnarumma’s return comes at a crucial time for PSG, with the Trophee des Champions just around the corner.

Those around the goalkeeper remain confident, with one source stating, “Why would he be afraid? He’s a professional! It’s a risk of the goalkeeper position, it happens.”

His resilience and readiness to play once again highlight his dedication to the game. Supporters can expect to see the Italian keeper back in action, as PSG looks to start the year with a strong performance.
