PSG wants to make additions to their attack this winter but reports suggest that for that to happen, some players might need to leave the club.
Their interest in Kvicha Kvaratskhelia is well documented, but in order to fund that transfer they would like to get some money off the books.
One of those players who might be on their way out is Marco Asensio, as L’Equipe reported that PSG had opened the door for him to leave the club.
Marco Asensio could exit PSG

Since moving from Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2023, Asensio has struggled to find a concrete role with PSG. He got off to a hot start at the beginning of the 2023-24 season, but a foot injury derailed his season, and he hasn’t looked the same since.
With the emergence of talents such as Desire Doue and Kang-In Lee who can occupy both the false nine and attacking midfielder positions that Asensio plays, it has been hard for him to find minutes. In PSG’s last eight matches, he has only played a combined 18 minutes.
While he is not a bad player and is a good depth option, the issue arises financially. He is currently the joint fifth highest earner on the team, equal with Achraf Hakimi at 14.5 million Euros per year.
The players who earn higher than him are all consistent starters in the club, other than Milan Skriniar, who is also rumored to leave in January.
Asensio’s potential suitors
L’Equipe’s report mentions both England and Spain as potential destinations for Asensio.
In Spain, the two clubs who seem likely are Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao. Links between Asensio and Sociedad trace back to last January, so it does not seem unlikely that the interest is still there.
The English club to look out for is likely Newcastle. The two sides were mentioned in the summer, so they might get back on his file for a cheaper price this month.
PSG might have to take some of the money Asensio is owed in wages, but it would be worth it for them to make a Kvaratskhelia deal more reasonable.
