PSG’s focus in the January window is to get rid of some players they don’t want anymore, and they have struck a deal for one of those.

Milan Skriniar moved to PSG on a free transfer in the summer of 2023, but he is now going to leave the club.

The 29-year-old Slovakian had good seasons with Inter Milan that led PSG to give him a five-year deal, but he has not been able to repeat those with PSG.

He is a poor fit for Luis Enrique’s system, and now he is about to leave the club.

Reports say Milan Skriniar will join Galatasaray in January

Pedro Almeida has reported that Skriniar will leave PSG and move to Turkey and join the league leaders, Galatasaray.

It will only be a six-month loan, but it will give Skriniar a chance to recoup some of his value before PSG potentially tries to look for a permanent move in the summer.

Almeida says the deal is nearly ready to go, the only detail that needs to be ironed out is the salary coverage.

Skriniar’s 315,000 Euros per week makes him the fourth-highest earner at PSG, which is a big part of the reason they are trying to move on.

Galatasaray isn’t going to cover the entire salary he is owed for the next six months, but it should not be difficult for the clubs to find common ground.

Skriniar is a talented player who was a poor fit

Skriniar was one of the best central defenders in the world at his time in Milan, but he has not been able to transfer that to France.

He is most comfortable in a three-center back system, but Luis Enrique only plays two. When Skriniar signed his pre-contract agreement in January 2023, Christophe Galtier was still the coach.

Skriniar fits Galtier’s 5-3-2 system much better than he fits Enrique’s 4-3-3, so PSG saw him as a great fit at the time since they didn’t know they would struggle at the end of the season and eventually sacked Galtier.

PSG will likely get a small amount of salary relief, and then they can hope Skriniar plays well in Turkey so clubs would be willing to make a permanent transfer in the summer.
