Inside PSG’s summer blueprint: Two key positions take center stage
PSG are looking for a new attacking midfielder and a young left-back this summer as names from across Europe come up
PSG are prioritising new faces for two positions in their squad and have already contacted potential players about summer transfers.
According to a report by L’Équipe via Top Mercato, PSG are looking to add reinforcements this summer in the defensive and attacking midfield areas. The Sunday edition of the daily also confirmed that the club will sign a new striker.
Director of Football Luis Campos has been in touch with the likes of Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli and RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande. However, contacts are expected to occur in the preliminary stage without any promises or concrete offers.
As for the defensive addition, PSG are searching for a young left-back, and three targets have been revealed. Two months ago, PSG Inside Actus reported on four potential players who could make the club’s wishlist for this summer, but no official contact has taken place to date. West Ham United’s El Hadji Malick Diouf, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown, Crystal Palace’s Daniel Muñoz, and Fenerbahçe’s Jayden Oosterwolde are names that could well fit Paris Saint-Germain’s profile and serve as a second-choice left-back behind Nuno Mendes.
The Daily commented on the unsettled nature of Bradley Barcola at Les Parisiens, and his departure could trigger the opening of a new position. The Frenchman has been relegated to a fourth-choice forward role, as Luis Enrique has often used him as a super sub in big matches. However, he has failed to impress both the coach and fans whenever he has featured this season.
