PSG in pole position to sign Atletico Madrid star as Barcelona financial fears fade interest
PSG might have a clear path in negotiating with Atletico Madrid for Julian Alvarez as Barcelona become pessimistic.
According to a report by Spanish news outlet Sport, Barcelona are increasingly looking to bow out of the race for Alvarez due to financial constraints. This situation will potentially clear the way for PSG to pounce upon the player with a considerable offer.
Les Parisiens are hoping to send a proposal close to €100 million to Los Colchoneros to initiate negotiations for a permanent signing of the Argentine forward. While PSG have identified Alvarez as a priority for the summer transfer window, they are still unclear about his personal interests. The Blaugrana are waiting for the player’s response in order to leverage the situation.
Paris Saint-Germain have the requisite financial power to make the deal without compromising on the squad. Atletico Madrid are expected to be willing to sell their star to the French champions rather than strengthening a direct league rival like Barca.
Apart from Alvarez, advisor Luis Campos is also working on a potential deal to land the signature of CSKA Moscow starlet Matvey Kislyak. The news confirms the French giants’ intention to re-enter the Russian football market after securing the services of Matvei Safanov two years back.
PSG have already stalled the contract extensions of several players, such as Bradley Barcola, Senny Mayulu, Lee Kang-In and Lucas Chevalier, due to the recent names that have surfaced ahead of the transfer window. More details are set to emerge after the Champions League final.
