PSG pass on Joane Gadou: Former youth defender joins Borussia Dortmund in €20 million deal
PSG have opted out of the option to re-sign former youth player Joane Gadou from Red Bull Salzburg
PSG have declined to open the doors for former youth player Joane Gadou to rejoin the club.
According to an update by FabriceHawkins, Paris Saint-Germain has declined to exercise the right of first refusal in Red Bull Salzburg’s deal with Borussia Dortmund for Joane Gadou.
Following Les Parisiens’ call, the Frenchman joined the Bundesliga side on a permanent transfer worth €20 million, with bonuses that could add up to €6 million. The highly rated youngster is a PSG academy graduate who left the club for Salzburg on a €10 million deal in 2024.
The French giants had the option to buy him back, but they exchanged that right for 20% of the profits. Therefore, PSG will receive €2 million from the Austrian outfit for the fee paid by Dortmund.
The 19-year-old has now signed with Die Borussen on a 5-year deal, and the details of his salary are yet to be disclosed. Dortmund landed the player just five days after defender Niklas Sule announced retirement from professional football at the end of the current season. CEO Lars Ricken confirmed that they had their eyes on Gadou since his time at PSG, where he developed himself as a strong center-back with an intent on build-up play. He said: “We’ve known about Joane for a long time and were watching him at PSG. Joane will bolster our ranks and take on an important role with us from the start of the new season. We’re convinced of his qualities and see enormous potential for development.”
