PSG’s big money goalkeeper signing confirmed by journalists

The three words every football fan is looking for are Fabrizio Romano’s “Here we go!”, and PSG fans have finally gotten that for the transfer of Lucas Chevalier.
Romano says the French keeper will move from Lille to PSG for a fee over 40 million and sign a five-year deal in the French capital.
What does Chevalier bring?
Chevalier had a breakout season for LOSC in 2024/25, putting the team on his back in many big Champions League matches. As a result of his great campaign, the 23-year-old also received his first nomination for the Yashin Trophy.
While Chevalier is better than Gianluigi Donnarumma with the ball at his feet, likely a big reason that Luis Enrique chose him, there is a misconception going around about him that he is only good with the ball. He is an absolutely phenomenal shotstopper, and to imply otherwise is not close to the truth.
In Ligue 1 this season, he conceded 36 goals while facing 44 expected goals on target. For reference, Donnarumma conceded 25 while facing 21.38 expected goals on target.
The highlight of his season was undoubtedly his clean sheet vs Real Madrid in Lille’s 1-0 victory over Los Blancos, where he earned Man of the Match and made five crucial saves, keeping a clean sheet while facing 1.99 expected goals on target.
While the fee is expensive, Chevalier is worth it. He joins a phenomenal group of young French talent, including Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola, Ousmane Dembele, and Warren Zaire Emery.
What does this mean for the rest of PSG’s window?
Luis Campos wanted this to be a smaller window, and so far, that has been the case. While there are rumors of a massive sale of a star winger to England, I would be shocked to see that actually materialize.
The one name who is most impacted by this move is Gianluigi Donnarumma. PSG didn’t buy Chevalier to sit him on the bench, so this pushes the Italian into a difficult decision. He can either leave PSG, where he has been linked to an English giant, or remain at the club until his contract runs out in June 2026 and accept a cut in playing time.
