Coming off a strong campaign with AC Milan and the Italian national team, Gianluigi Donnarumma looked like he was going to be a superstar between the Parc Des Princes posts for over a decade when he moved to PSG in 2021.
Since then, he hasn’t been able to recapture that same form. His time in Paris has been filled with crushing mistakes in big matches.
Russian signing Matvey Safonov has taken partial command of the starting goalkeeper spot, which going into the season seemed sure to be Donnarumma’s.
Reports say that he could leave Paris this summer, and the destination mentioned is shocking.
Gianluigi Donnarumma could switch to Inter Milan

In a shock move, Gianluigi Donnarumma could be switching sides at the San Siro and becoming an Inter player.
The first report came from Sky Sport’s Gianluca DiMarzo, but then French reporter Djamel then came and confirmed the interest between the two sides.
If Donnarumma were to leave for Inter, it would certainly make him one of the most hated men for half of Milan.
AC Milan’s fans were already furious with him for joining PSG on a free, but going to Inter is one of the few things that Milan fans would see as worse.
Previously, according to Forbes, Donnarumma has been linked with a Manchester City move as well.
What would Donnarumma’s exit mean for PSG?
If Donnarumma were to leave the club, it seems likely that PSG would invest in another keeper. Matvey Safonov is a good option, but Arnau Tenas, who has a contract expiring in 2026, is the only other keeper they have on the squad.
There are a few different directions they could go.
One route is going for a more experienced keeper. Some of the names they have been linked to in the past are Gregor Kobel from Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan’s Mike Maignan.
If they wanted to go for a young talent, they would not have to look very far outside of their own country. The two main options there are Toulouse’s Guillaume Restes and Lille’s Lucas Chevallier.
Chevallier would be the better option, but his standout performances this year would lead to them having to face tough competition for his signature and give Lille a big payday.
