The official draw for the FIFA Club World Cup has been revealed, with PSG placed in Pot 1, marking them as one of the top teams in the tournament.

The revamped format of the Club World Cup, set to feature elite clubs from across the globe in a more competitive intercontinental competition, will see PSG participate despite not having won a Champions League title.

A spot earned from their 2020 achievements

PSG secured their place in this tournament thanks to their impressive 2020 campaign, where they finished as runners-up in the UEFA Champions League after losing to Bayern Munich. This performance solidified their status as one of the most influential clubs in modern football.

The draw, scheduled for Thursday, December 4, will determine the group stage matchups. As part of Pot 1, PSG is set to be a group leader, giving them an advantage by avoiding other top-tier clubs during the initial phase.

Strong contenders await

However, this doesn’t guarantee an easy path. Pot 2 includes formidable clubs from Europe and South America, while Pots 3 and 4 feature competitive teams from Asia and Africa, ensuring an exciting and diverse tournament format.

Expectations for PSG are high as they aim to deliver a strong performance. Under Luis Enrique’s guidance, the Parisian side will be looking to lift the Club World Cup trophy for the first time.
