Paris Saint-Germain is grappling with a crisis of inconsistency on the pitch, and the spotlight has now shifted to the debate over who should be the team’s starting goalkeeper.

PSG’s goalkeeper dilemma has taken center stage as both Gianluigi Donnarumma and Matvey Safonov struggle to impress.

Donnarumma, once considered the undisputed first-choice keeper, has faced criticism for inconsistent performances in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, Safonov, who started against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, failed to deliver the stability PSG hoped for, making a critical error that led to the only goal of the game.

This uncertainty has sparked debate about the pecking order between the posts, with fans and pundits alike questioning whether either keeper can provide the reliability PSG needs.

According to Le Parisien, amid the confusion, a new contender is emerging: Arnau Tenas.

The 23-year-old Spanish keeper is reportedly gaining the attention of manager Luis Enrique.

After PSG’s 1-1 draw against FC Nantes, Enrique stated that ‘no goalkeeper is above the others,’ hinting at a potential reshuffle in the lineup.

Tenas, who won an Olympic gold medal in 2024, is determined to seize any opportunity to prove his worth.

Tenas’ confidence and skills, particularly his ability with the ball at his feet, have made him a standout option during training sessions.

PSG insiders have noted that he is pushing hard to challenge his teammates, aware that the current uncertainty offers a rare chance to climb the ranks.

Proving his worth

Unlike some players, Tenas rejected offers from other clubs this summer, showing his commitment to carving out a place in Paris.

Though still unproven at the highest level, his former coach at Barcelona, Aureli Altimira, has high hopes for him.

“If he plays, I’m sure he won’t be afraid. He has the ambition and determination to succeed,” Altimira said.

With PSG’s goalkeeping hierarchy up in the air, Tenas could be the fresh spark the team needs.
