Barcelona ‘desperate’ to sign PSG, Arsenal transfer target, report says

Barcelona is 'desperate' to sign a striker, but PSG and Arsenal are also in the race, according to reports.

Barcelona is “desperate” to sign PSG transfer target Julian Alvarez, according to reports. Arsenal also has not given up on signing the Atletico Madrid striker.

This week, journalist Gaston Edul revealed that PSG had set its sights on signing Alvarez, 26, and this trend has now been confirmed in England.

According to TEAMtalk, Luis Enrique’s team is seriously interested in the Atletico Madrid forward, and the Spanish coach has already given his approval.

“Enrique has made no secret of his admiration for Alvarez and has directly communicated to the club’s senior leadership that he believes the 26-year-old would be an ideal addition to his evolving forward line,” Graeme Bailey wrote.

Bailey also revealed that both Barcelona and Arsenal remain in the race to sign the Argentine player. In the case of the Catalan club, the cited journalist described it as desperate to sign Alvarez.

“Barcelona remain desperate to bring Alvarez to Camp Nou, and sources state the striker has long viewed the Catalan club as his preferred destination,” Bailey explained.

As for the Gunners, the report indicates that they would be willing to meet Atletico Madrid’s financial demands to sign the striker. “The north London club view the Argentine as a transformational signing capable of elevating their attack to another level, but PSG are equally determined.”

Bailey added that PSG is likely to sell forward Goncalo Ramos in the summer, which would open the door for Alvarez to earn a spot on the Parisian roster, which is already quite competitive in its attack.
