Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta sounds warning to PSG ahead of Champions League final
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta sends battle cry to his players and PSG ahead of the Champions League final clash on May 30
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta sent a warning message to PSG as he felt upbeat about his team’s chances for the Champions League final on May 30.
Speaking to the press on media day (via Foot Mercato), organised after The Gunners secured their first Premier League title in 22 years, Arteta banged his side’s drum ahead of the Champions League final against PSG. He wants to see Arsenal take “two trophies” home this season, and has given his players 48 hours to celebrate before they will resume training sessions for the big event.
The Spaniard said: “We’ve had 48 hours to savor the success of our league title, but tomorrow and Saturday, we’re going to prepare very seriously because we need to raise our habits and standards to be in the best possible condition to play Sunday’s match. We’ll have a little time to lift the trophy and share this moment with the people around us, and then we’ll have six days to write a new chapter in the history of this club. We now have to show that we have the ambition, the quality, and the consistency necessary to achieve this. That will be the next step,” Arteta further claimed, “We want to parade with two trophies.”
Arsenal had finished as runners-up three times in the previous three Premier League campaigns, and Arteta’s “trust the process” finally bore fruit this season, when Manchester City dropped points at Bournemouth to hand the North London outfits their most-awaited English top-flight title.
PSG sealed their 14th Ligue 1 title following a 2-0 victory over Lens recently, and Luis Enrique is ready to match his fellow countryman Arteta in a battle in the UCL final.
