PSG’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia reveals secret behind stellar Champions League performances

PSG star man Khvicha Kvaratskhelia explains reason behind his strong European performances.

Speaking in an interview with Paris Saint-Germain‘s media outlets (via Le10Sport), Kvaratskhelia lauded his teammates for being the pillar behind his success on Champions League nights. The Georgian scored seven goals in seven games for PSG during the Champions League this season, where they had to beat AS Monaco, Chelsea, Liverpool and finally Bayern Munich to reach the final against Arsenal.

“How do I do it? It’s difficult. It’s not as easy as it might seem, because in the Champions League, all the teams can be great teams, and it’s very difficult to score against them. But I have incredible teammates who create situations for me where I simply have to shoot and score. I’m proud to be able to score goals today. I’m in good form, and I’m just trying to do my job as well as possible. And I want to score even more“, remarked the 25-year-old winger.

Since arriving from Napoli, Kvaratskhelia has earned a first-choice spot in Luis Enrique’s team, and has subsequently become one of the player upon which the Spanish manager can entirely rely on.

The Tbilisi-born left winger said that the squad’s unity is the key that drove PSG to experience a season, where they are on course to lift their second successive Champions League trophy, having clinched their 14th Ligue 1 title a few days back with a victory over Lens. He said, “I think it’s one of the team’s greatest strengths. We’re happy together, very united, and we know that if we fight for each other and play our football, we can beat any team.”
