Paris FC shut the gates on PSG’s Ligue 1 celebration

Paris FC have declined the request from Ligue de football professionnel to present the Ligue 1 trophy to PSG after their derby clash this weekend.

PSG have been denied the request by Paris FC for the Ligue 1 trophy presentation following their derby clash this weekend.

A report by Le Parisien confirms Paris FC’s decision to decline the Ligue de football professionnel (LFP) ‘s request to host Paris Saint-Germain’s league title presentation at Stade Jean-Bouin. The preliminary idea was to secure the rights from Les Bleus to host the ceremony after the derby clash between the two sides this weekend. However, this plan is now derailed.

Paris FC have planned their own set of celebrations after featuring in the last matchday of the campaign. They are expected to pay tributes to their players leaving the club, including Julien Lopez, who has been the longest-serving member of this squad since he arrived in 2017. There are set to be fireworks after the game, as the hosts will aim to finish the season on a high.

PSG can mathematically seal their fifth straight Ligue 1 title against Lens tonight; however, they might have to wait until the end of the season to get their hands on the trophy. Les Parisiens also had their own request to celebrate the silverware with their fans at the Parc Des Princes next door denied by the police prefecture on the same day as the final matchday of the season. The reason behind this rejection could be security concerns following the completion of a derby match between these two neighbourhood clubs.

As things stand, PSG will have to set another date to officially lift the title and present it to their fans.
