PSG make Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez their priority signing

PSG prioritize Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez signing for the summer but roadblocks await.

PSG set their sights on Atletico Madrid forward Juliรกn Alvarez as a potential summer signing.

An update by Gaston Edul reveals Les Parisiens’ latest surge in interest for the World Cup winner with Argentina, Juliรกn Alvarez. PSG head coach Luis Enrique is a fan of the 26-year-old’s profile, and he aims to make the Parc Des Princes the next destination for the player after his stints with Manchester City and Atletico Madrid.

The French giants’ representatives have been in contact with Alvarez’s entourage for several weeks now. Enrique was pushing to land him at Paris when he was yet to make the switch to Diego Simeone’s side. However, the opportunity did not arise for PSG then, but it could fall right into their hands this year.

How much PSG might have to pay? Here is what the Spanish media reports

According to Cadena SER, PSG are set to face a tough task in convincing Los Colchoneros to let Alvarez leave. Atleti are still unsure about the forward’s future, but they will not make it easy for any squad member to leave without paying a hefty fee. As for Alvarez’s case, the asking price could shoot to a figure around โ‚ฌ100 million.

The report also claims that Barcelona remain in the mix to lure the former Man City man away, and this is set to be Enrique’s biggest competition. Atletico Madrid know that no club is likely to break the bank for his signature, but with PSG in the race, they might have to call for a position that is financially advantageous to them.

Last year, Alvarez publicly revealed that Paris Saint-Germain contacted him, but the move did not happen. “When I signed with Atlรฉtico, we talked a lot about Paris. That’s true, there have been discussions between the PSG executives and my agent; they showed interest in recruiting me, but it didn’t happen.”

He remarked he kept his options open, “For the moment, I’m focused on Atlรฉtico. We’ll do the review at the end of the season.”
